Glycoprotein hormone that mimics LH at gonadal receptors.
Overview
Human chorionic gonadotropin is a glycoprotein hormone that acts on the same receptor as luteinising hormone. It is extensively studied in endocrine research, fertility science and hormonal recovery models.
Research applications
- LH-mimetic action at Leydig cell receptors
- Gonadal function maintenance in research models
- Spermatogenesis research
- Ovulation induction research
- Testicular atrophy prevention in hormone research
Mechanism of action
Binds LH/hCG receptors (LHCGR) on Leydig cells, triggering intracellular cAMP production and stimulating testosterone synthesis — effectively substituting for the pituitary LH signal without altering HPG axis feedback in the same way.
